I recall my first internship and it required me to drive an hour and a half every day. While there was an advantage to gaining real-world experience, it cost me a lot of wasted time and money.

Virtual internships are breaking the mold. You can do them from anywhere (with an internet connection) and at your own pace.

This is great especially if you are in school or making a career change at 40 or any working age. I had to check it out and it was much easier to get started than my in-person internship years ago.

What is the Forage?

The Forage is a self-study program designed by Tom Brunskill & Pasha Rayan in 2017. The platform offers virtual work experience programs. They have an incredible list of partnered companies from RedBull to Lululemon.

Is it free?

Yes, it’s completely free. The companies that partnered with The Forage pay to list their virtual internships. This benefits the partnered companies to gain access to candidates that have been “pre-skilled” specifically for their company. This can save a company time and money in a lengthy training phase when they have a pool of company-specific trained candidates.

Who can apply?

Anyone can apply to their online internships. Although there is a focus on anyone with little to no industry experience around the college age, it’s accessible to anyone. The current state of employment has shifted where we see all working age groups seeking career changes. It’s exciting to know there is helpful training available for anyone getting into a new career.

How to apply for the Forage?

  1. Click on “Sign up” on the top right of the page or on “Start Now
  2. Register through “Google” or “email
  3. Input your information and click on “Register” at the bottom
